This company is an international market leader in a specific branch of catering. Day in and day out, 7 days a week, tens of thousands of meals are produced for a very diverse range of target groups. This environment demands a high level of flexibility, dynamism, and continuous follow-up. Despite working with tight deadlines, there is a relaxed, open atmosphere and a down-to-earth mentality. To strengthen the development team, we are looking for a creative chef who is also strong in cost control and system follow-up.

Duties

As a development chef, you will work closely with the kitchen and purchasing department and focus mainly on the development and implementation of menus and dishes. Your responsibilities lie in the following areas:

  • Development:
    • Following the latest trends, new products, and ideas
    • Developing and creating new dishes, recipes, and 'menu design' for different clients
    • Designing special menus and accommodating special requests for various target groups
    • Systematically developing recipes and work processes
    • Defining replacement products
  • Presentations
    • Mapping out customer wishes and translating these into dishes
    • (Practical) organization and execution of product and meal presentations to the client
    • Proposing new products, recipes, and suggestions
  • Production
    • Translating the results of meal presentations into work instructions for production
    • Training employees and monitoring the correct implementation of dishes on the floor, in collaboration with the head chef
    • Optimizing and standardizing work processes and preparations
  • Analysis
    • Verification of food costs and strict cost control
    • Analyzing existing product flows and determining improvements
    • Data input: informing and following up on the IT input of data related to products and recipes.

Profile

  • You are essentially a qualified chef with experience in volume kitchens, production, or large-scale food-oriented environments.
  • You are flexible, stress-resistant, and enjoy working in a large-scale, dynamic, and just-in-time environment.
  • You know how to find a good balance between creativity and structure; preferably, you have a more systematic background.
  • PC-skilled and quick to adapt to new systems.
  • Strong insight into work processes and knowledge of 'product development'.
  • Communicative and easy to get along with.
  • Willing to travel abroad a few times a year for trade shows, client, or site visits.
  • Ideally, you speak English and French; Dutch is a plus.

Offer

Interesting salary package supplemented with extra-legal benefits. This job can primarily be performed from Monday to Friday during the day. You can take advantage of flexible hours, but generally, many employees start early in the morning. Sporadically, your presence is expected during weekends, and in that case, overtime can be taken as time off.

The work can mainly be carried out from Monday to Friday and during the day.
